What should be the the correct IP and DNS addresses in LAN connection?

If iam connected in a LAN how can i determine the Administrator IP and DNS addresses. I am one of the recipients of the connections. I am connected in the LAN but my internet explorer is not working maybe i have the wrong IP and DNS addresses. How can i correct this?
